Why NUNIVIA rates additionally
Official labels (USK, PEGI) primarily refer to content such as violence or language. Purchase pressure, loot boxes, addictive mechanics and manipulative UI designs (dark patterns) have only been gradually included since 2023 — older ratings do not yet fully reflect this. NUNIVIA therefore additionally evaluates real everyday risks, including UI tricks such as countdown timers, virtual currencies, FOMO events and hidden decline options.
Assessment for messenger app
Telegram offers no native parental controls and has almost no content moderation in public groups and channels. Parental control is only possible via external third-party tools. Public channels with extreme, illegal or content unsuitable for minors are easily accessible via the search function. Since February 2024, Telegram qualifies as a VLOP under the EU DSA — transparency obligations and minor protection measures are mandatory, compliance is being monitored. The vzbv formally warned Telegram in August 2024 over misleading advertising and intransparent privacy notices.
